Norway’s best rooftop bars

There is plenty of room at the top of The Thief to stretch out and relax in the sun – or under a parasol if you prefer.

The Thief Roof, Oslo
If you aren’t lucky enough to be staying at Oslo’s new hotel, The Thief, you can at least take the elevator to the top and enjoy a Bellini or mojito. The roof offers views out across the city and the Oslofjord. But it can be just as entertaining to watch the clientele: here you will meet top politicians, actors, and thirsty tourists. DJs play at the weekends.

Vulkan
In recent years, Oslo has practically gained a new district in Akerselva called Vulkan. It is home to the new Mathallen food hall, PS:hotell, and Dansens hus, to name but a few. Vulkan has also become a cool place to go out for a bite to eat or a drink, and one place you can do both is Bar Vulkan. In summer they open up the roof terrace, where you can order everything from champagne to potent cocktails.
